Although well know for teaching sunday school, Carter was far too socially liberal to maintain the evangelical vote. Carter acceptance of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade, advances on what now is know as LGBTQ issues, and redefining 'family' away from a Biblical context.  Carter's liberal view of the Bible’s inspiration and authority were also concerning.
